Allergies caused by cockroaches were first reported in 1943. When the pests crawled over the skins of patients, they developed rashes.

Certain proteins present in the body parts and faeces of cockroaches can cause asthma in some people. Particles from these remains of cockroaches can spread through the air and affect vulnerable people.

Cockroaches spread diseases through their vomit and saliva

Cockroaches also spread micro-organisms through their vomit and saliva. Before ingesting food, sometimes cockroaches excrete saliva on the edible substance that they are about to eat.
